The Committee organizes every month (except during school holidays) a meeting of residents to inform, educate, promote participation and support the actions of people on life, projects and issues in the neighborhood. These meetings
inhabitants want to be a space for dialogue between the neighborhood associations, residents and authorities, a dialogue that touches directly or indirectly to the themes addressed.
The topics covered by the projects and meetings with residents in Committee within both the public spaces, urban renewal, as the cleanliness, beautification and improving the quality of neighborhood life.

We send invitations and reports of meetings to hundred people, among which there are about sixty people. In 2009, the average attendance at meetings was a dozen people. Moreover, the involvement of local associations, the direction of the Providence school, local youth, as well as municipal authorities is noteworthy.

The social composition, professional and cultural life of these meetings is relatively diverse. We can find people of Belgian origin and foreign origin (North African, Italian, English ...), the elderly and young adults, men and women (the latter being in the minority, however) . The active presence of the association is also represented (The Dew, Avicenna ...). The meetings with the competent authorities shall on a more formal (interview requests specific).

Participation Contract Monitoring Quarter Lemmens
The Neighborhood Committee pays particular attention to monitoring the Contract Quarter around Place Lemmens. Indeed, it is urgent that the demands of people, so often repeated, are taken into account and that decisions are respected by the authorities. As such, this Contract Area offers new possibilities in terms of realizing the expectations of residents and development potential of the area.

Therefore, the Committee participates in the following activities: Committees Local Integrated Development (BILD) General meetings, neighborhood walks, workshops Urban Dialogue Commissions, Municipal Councils, ... ).
The Neighborhood Committee also ensures that requests, information and decisions with residents at the monthly meetings.

Release of "P'tit Journal ... here
Completion of this paper involves the participation of residents and neighborhood associations in selecting and writing articles. The Committee will also relays important information to neighborhood life.
The objectives of the production and publication of this neighborhood newspaper are: inform, educate residents and associations to projects, problems Ward, promote the expression of residents and neighborhood associations, raise the political powers on issues of neighborhood ...

Workshops pottery-


It is within the premises of the association " The Dew" that are organized for children and adults, workshops pottery and several times a week throughout the year. Workshops are led by Henri Deprez, director of the Committee and local resident and Janine Dupriolle, and what with the financial participation of "The Dew".

Beautification, "green neighborhoods"

pottery workshops are complementary to the project "Green Areas" in the sense that they contribute to the beautification of the neighborhood. This activity is important, firstly because it provides a "key" to specific neighborhoods and allows "verdurisation" of the urban environment through the exposure of pots on the front or numbers houses, made by the inhabitants. On the other hand, it can enhance the participation of the people who bring their "push" employees to improve the quality of neighborhood life.

The purpose of this festival is to provide all persons living in the neighborhood (all ages and all nationalities combined) a day friendly, warm and festive with the aim of promoting exchanges in the area between all involved in it.
So every year we can look forward to increasing our business collaboration between local partners, particularly the positive impact brought by this dynamic celebration at the neighborhood level: diverse activities, citizen participation the organization of the festival are to go.

Attendance and organization of a Fall Festival at Place Lemmens
The initiative of this festival comes from the Prevention Service of the municipality of Anderlecht, in order to animate and give life to this neighborhood in a festive and serene, to counteract the negative image of this insécuritaire Place. This feast is prepared in collaboration with various departments of the municipality and various neighborhood associations.

Future Projects

  • Organizing monthly meetings of population.

  • The production and dissemination of bimonthly P'tit Journal, with a circulation of 350 copies.

  • The organization of the block party, the park of the Dew will celebrate its 10 years elsewhere this year.

History, the subject of neighborhood committee Renaissance

Committee Neighborhood Renaissance Lemmens was established following the incidents of 1997 and as a result of renovation projects in the area.
The goal for the CRU is to involve people in decisions regarding the revitalization of their neighborhood. Meetings

Between 1997 and 2002, the animation renaissance of the Committee Lemmens was fully insured by the staff of the CRU in the subsidy Regional Integrated Local Development (DLI). The premises are located at Renaissance Lemmens VZW The Dew (home town). These premises have been refurbished with communal facilities and technical support of an architect of the CRU. News
Committee: a recurring basis, the Committee works to alert the municipality of Anderlecht on various problems of nuisance caused by the economic functions of the district, the malfunction of the projects of the district contract Lemmens, poor communal management of public buildings and problem tenants.
Furthermore, the Committee is implementing various measures to promote investment and friendliness of the people in their neighborhood: block party, "Green Areas", participation in the St. Nicolas Ward, pottery workshops, journal neighborhood ...

The Committee is to all projects, activities or approaches aimed

  • in general: the promotion of "man in the neighborhood and the neighborhood in the city," focusing on the urban dimension of human ; the fight against racism, antisemitism and xenophobia;
  • especially: the refurbishment and enhancement of neighborhood Lemmens and its surroundings, work in harmony with associations while involving people in take part in the dynamic citizenship responsibility; cultural and sports activities and support to associations working in this direction.
